Commissions
There are three or four commissions available at a time, across eight subjects, and finding new ones costs a time point. A patron's piece doesn't need any particular skill. A portrait needs arts 18. A gallery piece needs arts 22 and two time points, and pays the most. Within each kind, the fee goes up with your reputation, so your skill decides which commissions you can take and your reputation decides what they pay.
Prints of your work also sell every year, and how many depends on your reputation.
Originals
With a canvas you can paint for yourself. Each original is worth more the better a painter you are when you make it, and every one you paint improves your skill a little. They stay in your inventory, count towards your net worth, and you can sell them whenever you like, or never.
What makes it different
In most of the other special careers something wears away over time. Fans lose interest, fame fades, attributes drop and companies fold. A painter's reputation doesn't. The only limits are your time, your canvas and your skill, so it's the hardest of the eight to lose.
